Responsible for the installation, maintenance and repair of broadband network infrastructure in external environments, including both overhead and underground cabling. The role ensures that fibre cables are safely deployed, efficiently, and to technical standards, supporting the reliable delivery of broadband services to residential and commercial customers. Working as part of a field team, the network cabler contributes to the successful rollout and upkeep of high speed communication networks while adhering to health, safety and industry regulations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Installation of fibre and copper cable whilst observing cable tolerance.
Interpreting and understanding job packs and network drawings to accurately install telecommunications cable and equipment whilst also to specification.
Pull and rod fibre cables through ducts and prepare routes for installation teams.
Climb poles and work at height using approved safety equipment to install and maintain overhead cables.
Work collaboratively with civils teams, network engineers, and installations teams to ensure efficient network delivery.
Maintain tools, equipment and PPE in a safe working condition.
Maintain accurate records of work completed including system updates, as-builds, and test results.
Ensure all cabling activities comply with health and safety standards, NRSWA regulation and company procedures.
Interpret network designs and technical drawings to deliver accurate installations.
Ensure all documentation is complete and submitted within a timely manner. Task reports, Pre & Post installation check sheet, Point Of Work Risk Assessment (POWRA).
Ensuring detailed handovers at the start/end of shifts to manager/supervisor.
SKILLS REQUIRED :
Knowledge & Experience
Experience in cabling and TRR.
Knowledge of NRSWA (New Roads and Street Works Act) regulations.
Ability to read site plans and technical drawings.
CSCS card or equivalent certification & PIA accreditations.
