Job Description


We are currently in search of a highly skilled and experienced Senior Reliability Network Engineer to join a global financial organisation.

This critical role is responsible for building a suite of custom automation tools and developing their network services team to become one of the largest exchange network infrastructures in the world.

The preferred candidate should possess extensive expertise in network automation or a solid foundation in Python programming/scripting with a background in networking.

You will join a newly formed team of six members located worldwide, and you will have a hybrid work arrangement, spending two days per week at the Belfast office, working UK working hours.

Responsibilities:

  • Utilize a code-first approach to implement automation solutions.
  • Develop and maintain network monitoring, orchestration, and automation solutions, encompassing automated inventory reconciliation, workflow automation, network configuration validation, health monitoring, alerts handling, and incident remediation.
  • Monitor network infrastructure performance and implement automated solutions for issue resolution.
  • Conduct regular automated audits of network infrastructure to ensure compliance with industry best practices and standards.
  • Provide self-service tools for troubleshooting and resolving network-related issues across teams.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and deploy tools for end-to-end process automation within network infrastructure.
  • Create services with an API-driven approach for seamless integration of network tools with various services and easy consumption by other teams.
  • Identify opportunities for automating repetitive tasks and contribute to process improvement.
  • Develop automated test suites and maintain comprehensive documentation of solutions.
  • Lead the development and implementation of build release pipelines.
  • Prioritize backlogs, deliver solutions, and manage implementations in collaboration with the team and stakeholders.
  • Provide estimates, formalize release plans, and establish implementation schedules and dependencies.
  • Track infrastructure delivery and dependencies for successful implementation.
  • Communicate implementation challenges, delays, and mitigation plans.
  • Innovate to enhance future processes and deployments.
What We Are Looking For:
  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on Python experience with strong programming skills.
  • Hands-on experience in network automation.
  • Proficiency with automation and orchestration tools such as Ansible, Itential, Nautobot, or similar.
  • Practical experience with network monitoring tools.
  • Can-do attitude, innovative thinking, and an out-of-the-box approach.
  • Ability to develop API-based services and common network libraries/frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of Network Domain fundamentals.
  • Good knowledge of Network Asset and Configuration management processes.
  • Familiarity with Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and experience with Agile methodologies and tools like Bitbucket, JIRA, Jenkins.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills required for managing multiple project factors simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Preferred: Bachelor\'s Degree in Computer Science.
