Are you an experienced Network Infrastructure Professional looking to shape the future of connectivity across a leading global university? This role oversees the design, delivery and performance of the College's physical network infrastructure, supporting over 30,000 users across more than 20 sites. You will lead on large network upgrades and refreshes, manage internal and external teams, and serve as the College's subject matter expert on network infrastructure. The post offers the opportunity to influence strategy, implement cutting-edge solutions, and ensure the reliability and security of critical campus systems.
What you would be doing
---------------------------
You will lead the design, delivery, and maintenance of the College's cabling and physical network infrastructure in line with global, national and internal technical standards.
Your work will build the backbone for reliable network service to over 30,000 users and 100,000 connected devices across all Imperial's London sites.
You will manage large-scale network upgrades and new implementations, coordinating internal teams and external contractors to meet quality and compliance standards.
You will shape the College's network strategy and act as the subject matter expert for network infrastructure technologies and standards.
You will ensure network systems are reliable, secure, and scalable, maintaining conformance with industry and institutional standards.
Your leadership will drive continuous improvement, documentation quality, and innovation across all network operations.
What we are looking for

Strong background in designing, building and managing large-scale network infrastructures.
Proven ability to lead teams of engineers, set objectives and deliver complex projects to time and budget.
Demonstrated experience in delivering physical network infrastructure design including structured cabling system installations and fibre design in a large scale organisation. Ensuring compliance with relevant British Standards and technical oversight of engineers and contractors.
Experienced in project delivery within the construction and estates / property environment, coordinating ICT works in building and refurbishment projects.
Excellent communicator who can engage effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Proactive leader who encourages collaboration, innovation and professional development within their team.
Strong understanding of governance, compliance, and security standards relevant to network operations.
Analytical thinker with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to balance technical and business priorities.
