Based at the offices in The Henry Box School, but will be required to work at or travel to any of the Mill Academy Schools on an occasional basis

Salary: Grade 9



Working Pattern:

Full-time (37 hours per week), Monday to Friday (actual working hours to be flexible to meet the demands of the Academy) 52 weeks - annual leave entitlement, plus 8 days (bank holidays)

Job Purpose:

As a member of the Academy Operations Team, you will provide a comprehensive strategic ICT service to the Academy Trust and its Schools.

Main Responsibilities



To maintain, enhance and develop the computer equipment and ICT networks throughout the Trust and it's schools

To manage and administer the Trust's cloud-based systems

To oversee the Academy's cyber security systems

To install new and existing software across the network

To manage the team who provide technical support for all users, curriculum and administrative staff, and provide such technical support personally whenever necessary to support and supplement the team

To resolve identified technical problems

To promote use of ICT across the curriculum

Line management and development of the Senior IT Technicians

To work with the Director of Finance and Academy Services, Director of Operations, the Executive Team, Headteachers and Trustees to align ICT strategies, infrastructure and security across the Trust and its schools.

Key Tasks



To manage the Trust and school networks;

To be responsible for the security and integrity of hardware, software and data;

To provide support for the Trust and school servers and associated routines;

To be responsible for the completion and security of school backups;

To provide hardware and software support for workstation PCs and Academy infrastructure systems;

To monitor, maintain and administer the cloud-based systems

To monitor the efficiency of the school's networks;

To maintain all peripherals within the school;

To install new and existing software on existing PCs;

To perform complete installations on new PCs;

To install, configure and maintain endpoint protection software across the academy;

To administer office 365 groups and accounts within the school;

To configure and maintain all software applications for consistent use;

To provide support to users in the use of the school's Management Information System;

To oversee the accurate maintenance of pages on the website and school intranet;

To support staff who wish to contribute material to the website and school intranet;

To maintain the ICT Health and Safety Policy;

To maintain an inventory of all IT equipment;

To maintain and review fault logs;

To review jobs logged on the Helpdesk, responding appropriately or allocating to team members for action;

To maintain and manage the CCTV system, responding to correct and appropriate requests for footage as directed by the DPO;

Maintain systems data mapping and data security/privacy information as required by the DPO;

To maintain and manage the telephony systems across the Trust;

To maintain and manage access control systems across the Trust;

To line manage Senior IT technicians, allocating work and giving support and training where appropriate;

To liaise with external support agencies and partnership;

To liaise with external suppliers for the repair of equipment under warranty or maintenance contract

To attend Executive Team, Trust Board or Committee meetings as required by the Director of Finance and Academy Services;

To follow the Trust's financial and procurement procedures and maintain records of procurement, ensuring all purchasing is completed in line with schemes of delegation and financial procedures.

To use and assist others in the use of information technology systems to carry out duties in the most efficient and effective manner.

To be responsible for keeping up to date with Trust and School policies and procedures.

To be pro-active in suggesting and be able to implement improvements made in service delivery, systems, processes and / or working methods that enhance service delivery and / or generate savings to the Academy or individual schools.

To achieve service outcomes and outputs, and personal appraisal targets, as agreed with the Director of Finance and Academy Services

To undertake training and constructively take part in meetings, supervision, seminars and other events designed to improve communication and assist with the effective development of the post and post holder.

To undertake any other reasonable tasks as are required from time to time at the discretion of Director of Finance and Academy Services or the Chief Executive.

Person Specification



Experience (Essential)



At least 5 years' experience of providing technical support and systems development in a medium to large ICT environment.

At least 5 years' experience of managing and supporting Windows desktop and server systems and managed network environments.

Manage printing systems and hardware.

Experience administering Microsoft 365

Experience using Disaster Recovery technologies and methodologies.

Working in an ICT Support environment to defined service levels and targets.

Implementing solutions based on user or customer requirements.

Experience working on projects as part of a team. Experience of other key IT manufacturers or providers products and technologies.

Experience of leading on projects as part of a team.

Experience of procurement and tendering

Experience of telephony and/or VOIP

Qualifications



Essential

Vocational or professional education within a relevant discipline.

GCSE's including English and Mathematics, or relevant further and/or higher education qualifications

Microsoft MCSE/MCSA or other technology/industry certification
