Overview


We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Network Technician to join our dynamic internet services team. The ideal candidate will have a background in network support and engineering, with hands-on experience in managing and maintaining network infrastructure. This role is crucial for ensuring the reliability and security of our network systems, enabling seamless communication and data transfer across the organisation's infrastructure.

Responsibilities



Provide comprehensive support for network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN and Wi-Fi configurations. Configure and maintain routers and switches, ensuring optimal performance and high availability. Manage firewalls and implement network security measures to protect sensitive data. Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to network protocols (TCP/IP, PPPoE, BGP, OSPF) and routing protocols. Collaborate with our IT team to implement secure remote access solutions using technologies such as IPsec and SSL. Monitor network performance using tools such as Domotz and UISP/UNMS to identify potential issues proactively. Assist in the installation and configuration of telecommunication systems, ensuring effective communication channels. Maintain up-to-date documentation and Microsoft Visio network diagrams for network architecture, configurations and changes in accordance with ITIL practices. Support system administration tasks using Microsoft Windows Server. Participate in disaster recovery planning and execution to ensure business continuity.

Experience


Candidates should possess a solid understanding of computer networking principles with experience in the following areas:

Proficient in managing DNS, DHCP, LDAP, NFS, and Active Directory services. Expertise in setting up and supporting secure wireless networks. Familiarity with cloud services such as Microsoft 365, AWS or Azure is advantageous. Experience with virtualisation technologies (VMware, Hyper-V) and load balancing solutions. Knowledge of scripting languages (Python, Bash) for automation tasks is preferred. Understanding of encryption methods and authentication protocols to enhance network security. Previous exposure to DevOps practices will be beneficial. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to ongoing professional development within the field of network engineering.
