The role




We have a vacancy for a full-time Senior Associate to work within the expanding Neurotrauma team in our award-winning Claimant Personal Injury department. The successful candidate will work as part of the Neurotrauma team who represent Clients throughout the country in cases involving brain and spinal cord injury. The role will focus on paediatric work and supporting children who have sustained life changing injuries and their families.


Everyone in our Neurotrauma Team is dedicated to securing the best outcome possible for our clients and supporting clients at an early stage with access to treatment for their injuries and rehabilitation. We achieve this by working in partnership with clients, with fellow professionals including case managers and therapists who form part of our clients' multidisciplinary teams and all those who support them as they come to terms with significant, life-changing injuries.

Main activities for this role include:



Independently, and as part of a team, handling paediatric neurotrauma injury claims, both pre-litigation and litigated cases Working in partnership with case managers and rehabilitation providers Undertaking liability investigations Quantum investigations (including review of medical, therapy, employment, and case management documentation, obtaining medical and other expert evidence, and special damages calculations), drafting Schedules of Loss Applying a proactive approach on a case by case basis to achieve the very best outcome for the client Promoting the Firm, and particularly the Neurotrauma team, externally, by attending events, developing positive relationships with potential work-referrers, and supporting the business development Providing an exceptional client experience Dealing with court hearings and applications

Requirements




The prospective applicant should have experience of complex and high-value personal injury claims, specifically brain and spinal cord injury claims and experience of running and assisting with paediatric injury claims. The applicant should have a detailed knowledge of the CPR and will be required to be familiar with medical issues relevant to serious neurological injury claims, a significant body of relevant case law and complex quantum calculations.


The successful candidate will have the interpersonal skills to deal with professional intermediaries and have an established network of those people working within the neurotrauma field. The candidate will be a competent advocate and be expected to participate in attending client events and other activities to create, maintain and build upon positive external relationships. Excellent communications skills are essential, as are managing expectations across a wide range of competing needs, a willingness to cover a variety of tasks and whilst we operate a strong life work balance ethos, the willingness to work outside core hours on occasion.
