Swindon Museums is seeking to appoint a motivated and dynamic New Media Marketing & Development Officer.


We're looking for an exceptional candidate with previous experience of leading marketing activity with an interest in the arts sector and museums and galleries. Creative and results driven you will have great communication and analytical skills with the ability to work within a team and to tight budgets.


Your next role




No two days are the same in this multi-layered and multi-faceted role. The successful candidate will work across two of the services Accredited venue (STEAM Museum of the Great Western Railway and Museum & Art Swindon) and will be both visitor focussed and commercially aware.


You will provide the highest quality marketing and development support to STEAM Museum and Museum & Art Swindon to help to meet the museums' objectives, increasing attendance and income generation at both venues, and helping to ensure we achieve optimum levels of customer satisfaction, enjoyment and retention.


You will lead on the development and implementation of marketing plans for STEAM Museum and Museum & Art Swindon taking account of different types of marketing including print and digital. You will also put together press releases and organise press calls, alongside private views for exhibitions


You will ensure that the museums' websites (using Wordpress and ModX) remain current and accurate, working with other team members on content. You'll also ensure engaging social media content is posted on our digital channels, looking to increase on-site visitors to our museums.


Together, our museums tell the stories of Swindon's place within our shared histories by investigating the lives of people from our past and our present. The museums hold important collections covering everything from archaeology to railway history to modern & contemporary British art. Our aims include:


Informing, educating, engaging, entertaining and inspiring all of our visitors, by making our collections available to them, now and in the future. Enriching the lives of the communities local to Swindon. Designing and delivering vibrant and relevant displays, exhibitions, activities, events and experiences which make a difference to people's lives.
