Job Purpose

The New Product Development (NPD) Specialist is responsible for managing the end-to-end development of new supplement products -- from concept to commercialisation. This includes working closely with clients, sourcing raw materials, formulating products, and ensuring alignment with regulatory, quality, and commercial objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Manage the entire NPD lifecycle for food supplements and wellness products. Collaborate with sales and clients to understand product briefs, claims, and functional requirements. Conduct feasibility assessments, including ingredient sourcing, formulation stability, and cost analysis. Create product specifications, ingredient breakdowns, and formulation records. Liaise with suppliers to source raw materials, request samples, and obtain technical data sheets. Coordinate with Production and Quality Assurance to ensure scale-up and compliance with GMP standards. Prepare and maintain documentation such as formulation sheets, product development trackers, and regulatory compliance records. Track development timelines and communicate progress to clients and internal stakeholders. Support sample production and manage first batch trials where required.

Key Skills & Requirements

2+ years' experience in NPD within the food, nutraceutical, or pharmaceutical industry. Knowledge of food supplement ingredients, excipients, and dosage formats (e.g., capsules, tablets, powders, gummies). Understanding of UK and EU regulations relating to food supplements and health claims. Strong organisational and project management skills. Excellent communication and collaboration abilities across cross-functional teams. Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with formulation software is an advantage.

Qualifications

Degree in Food Science, Nutrition, Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related field. Training in GMP, HACCP, or regulatory affairs (desirable).
