About the Role
Abergele Hospital is seeking a dedicated Locum Consultant Ophthalmologist to support its busy and well-established Ophthalmology service. This role offers an excellent opportunity to join a collaborative team delivering high-quality outpatient, diagnostic, and surgical eye care to patients across North Wales.
The ideal candidate will bring strong clinical skills, a commitment to patient-centred care, and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities
Provide consultant-level ophthalmology care in clinics and theatres
Deliver specialist assessments, diagnostics, and management of ophthalmic conditions
Participate in elective surgical lists (subspecialty sessions can be discussed)
Support junior doctors, nurses, and extended-role practitioners
Contribute to MDT meetings and service development
Participate in the on-call rota if required
Essential Requirements
Full GMC registration with licence to practise
Inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register (or within 6 months of CCT)
Proven experience working at Consultant level in Ophthalmology
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
