Your Role:

The

News Editor, Features (Digital)

will be a key player in shaping the daily content of our flagship platforms: The Sun .co.uk and print features, Sun Club membership scheme and Fabulous Digital.



This is a fantastic opportunity for someone bursting with ideas to make their mark on a brand that reaches millions every day.



Based in our fast-paced London Bridge newsroom, you will be responsible for generating a constant stream of compelling, on-brand, and agenda-setting content at scale and under time pressure. You will be as adept at scouting out a case study for a hard news feature as you are pitching the latest TikTok trend - and you'll instantly know what makes our readers tick and how to turn that into valuable, must-read content.



Your normal core working hours will be 40 hours per week within the operating hours/days as advised by your line manager. As per the News UK flexible working policy, this role is required to work from our London Bridge office for a minimum of 3 days a week. Any part-time working requests will be considered on an individual basis.


Key Responsibilities:




Lead quick turnaround original and exclusive news content for the Features team. Take in all main talking points of the day - whether benefits changes, political news, female-focused issues or crime leads. Improve quality of The Sun's quick-hit news women's content by having a flair for spotting new trends and viral content Razor-sharp digital focus with proven understanding on driving traffic via the homepage and securing prime story slots via great comps and graphics Brilliant headline writer who understands the spirit of the brand and has the flair to spot the hidden potential in stories. Proven creative ability when it comes to treatment of topics of the day. Help develop Features' off diary operation, including for Fabulous, and improve the quality and quantity of our original content including by managing freelancers on the ground and utilising solid contacts around the UK and internationally. To help train and develop our talented young reporters, nurturing them and ensuring they have a thorough understanding on The Sun brand.

Key Skills and Experience:




Minimum of five years' experience working on a national news desk with a track record of delivering exclusives Must have experience of running multiple reporters on the ground at once Knowledge of data and traffic-driving tools such as Parsely and Marfeel Unflappable under pressure and delivers work at a consistently high standard - positive attitude and a good team player Comfortable taking and acting on constructive feedback Outstanding legal & IPSO knowledge Can demonstrate an understanding of The Sun brand, both print and digital
