About us

------------

University College London (UCL) is one of the world's leading universities, recognised for its excellence in teaching, research, and innovation. Our Finance and Business Affairs Division plays a vital role in supporting UCL's mission by ensuring the effective management of our financial resources and fostering strong relationships with key partners, including NHS Trusts and government bodies.

Working at UCL means being part of a diverse, forward-thinking community that values collaboration, integrity, and continuous improvement. We are proud of our close partnerships with over 30 NHS Trusts and related charities, which are central to supporting world-class education, clinical research, and healthcare delivery.

As part of the NHS Billing team, you'll join a supportive environment that encourages professional growth, continuous learning, and the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to UCL's financial sustainability and impact within the wider health sector.

About the role

------------------

As an NHS Billing Officer at UCL, you will play a key role in managing the billing and collection of funds from NHS Trusts and government departments for staff salary recharges. You'll ensure that all recharges are accurate, supported by the correct documentation, and processed in line with UCL's financial timetables.

Working within a busy finance environment that oversees around 40 million in NHS-related turnover annually, you'll maintain strong working relationships with approximately 30 NHS Trusts and related charities.

Your day-to-day work will involve authorising HR system transactions, preparing and issuing invoices, maintaining detailed financial records, and resolving queries efficiently and professionally. This role requires exceptional attention to detail, the ability to work to tight deadlines, and a commitment to delivering a high standard of financial accuracy and customer service.

About you

-------------

You are a detail-oriented and proactive finance professional with experience in a complex billing or accounts receivable environment. With strong numeracy and analytical skills, you're confident managing large volumes of financial data and resolving discrepancies quickly and accurately.

You'll be comfortable using Excel at an advanced level and ideally have experience with systems such as Oracle Financials, Resource Link, or similar platforms. Your ability to communicate clearly with a wide range of stakeholders--including NHS Trusts, academic departments, HR, and finance teams--will be key to your success.

You approach your work with honesty, integrity, and professionalism, maintaining confidentiality at all times. With excellent time management and a calm, methodical approach, you thrive under pressure and are committed to supporting UCL's financial integrity and its partnerships with the NHS.

AAT or part-qualified CCAB status and experience within higher education or healthcare finance environments would be advantageous.
