Job Description

We are a friendly 10,000 patient GP training practice located minutes away from Stockwell Tube station on the Victoria line and we are looking for a motivated, committed and enthusiastic full time GP Receptionist to join our amazing team at Binfield Road Surgery.

Our GP Receptionists are responsible for welcoming, assisting and directing patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way. They also provide general assistance to the Practice team and are expected to project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors at all times.

This role does not come without its challenges but support is always at hand.

HOURS:

Monday - Friday 10.30am - 6.30pm (37.5 hours per week)

JOB SUMMARY:



As a GP Receptionist you will provide a professional and patient focused service to our GPs and all patients attending our practice.

The Receptionist will contribute to the effectiveness of the team by reflecting on own and team tasks and will make suggestions on ways to improve and enhance the team's performance. They will promote development and maintenance of a quality learning environment throughout the Surgery.

The key responsibilities for this post are set out below but it should be noted that this is not an exhaustive list and there may be other matters that should reasonably be asked of the Receptionist.

Duties and Responsibilities:



Dealing with patient queries Booking, cancelling and amending appointments on Emis Web Answering the telephone promptly assisting patients in a professional manner Sorting the mail and posting letters Scanning patient correspondence and other papers into the patient record Monitoring repeat prescription requests to ensure that patients attend the surgery for medication reviews and other health checks Alerting our Patient Liaison Officer or the Practice Manager to any complaints or potentially problems Meeting targets that are set by the Management Team Other ad hoc tasks as required

Information Technology



To be fully competent in the system specific IT training competencies required (such as EMIS WEB and Docman) and support colleagues in their use To maintain the computerised medical database To assess, monitor and implement plans to ensure the achievement of higher target Cytology, Bowel Screening and Childhood Immunisations To assist in the processing of referrals in accordance with Practice procedures To liaise with IT system suppliers and the CCG IT department with any concerns and ensure the effective and up to date functioning of IT systems at all times To support the Management Team in IT matters as required

PERSON SPECIFICATION:



Education



Educated to GCSE level High level of numeracy and literacy (spelling and comprehension)

Essential



At least 1-2 years' Receptionist / Customer Service / Administration experience in a similar environment, though training will be provided Excellent interpersonal and customer care skills Possess the ability to work under pressure and have strong organisational skills Interest in working with people and in service of patients Ability to work independently and have self-motivation Solution-oriented

Desirable



NHS experience in a similar role Experience using Emis Web
