NHS PENSIONS TECHNICIAN - FULL-TIME, NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE (closing date: 03/06/2025)

We need a positive and capable NHS Pensions Technician who understands the world of Accountancy and Finance to expand our current Pensions team. We want individuals who can offer an exclusive personalised service that matches the industry we represent. Your main role will be to provide technical support to the Pensions team, ensuring tasks are completed, systems updated, and customer and Company expectations are exceeded at every level.

The role presents an excellent opportunity for professional growth for office professionals with strong excel skills ready to expand their technical knowledge and acquire specialist skills. On-the-job training will help you learn the more detailed aspects of the role.

What you'll be doing:



Key responsibilities

Using Excel templates to model NHS pension calculations, agreeing to NHS Pensions figures Using Excel templates for analysing pension records, highlighting anomalies and providing summary reports of findings Using excellent numerical skills to form conclusions and make decisions Monitoring and updating pension calculations on an annual basis Identifying problems and seeking to solve/resolve issues Extrapolating information for meaningful projections for the use of a financial adviser Helping clients to understand the NHS Pension scheme and their options, without giving regulated financial advice Completing Type 2 certificates of pensionable pay Peer review Ad hoc duties required for supporting the NHS Pensions Team Manager

What you'll be able to demonstrate:



Skills and experience

Strong Excel Skills - Intermediate level or above Excellent numerical skills A passion for problem solving Excellent analytical skills with the ability to gather and interpret complex data Strong organisational skills with an ability to prioritise tasks Meticulous and accurate with a focus on attention to detail Self-motivated and driven to succeed Pleasant telephone manner, confident and engaging, happy to talk to people Competent using Microsoft Office Packages; a good working knowledge of Outlook and Word is required in addition to excellent excel skills Experience in a professional services environment Knowledge of NHS Pension Schemes and basic understanding of the differences by scheme
