General Purpose

To attend to the physical and social needs of all residents whilst working on a wakeful shift on a rota basis within the guidelines set by the home manager.

To be responsible for the security and safety of the home whilst on duty. There will be some domestic work as part of the general duties.

Promote all residents privacy, dignity, respect, independence, choice, rights and fulfilment within the policy of managed risk-taking.

Principle Duties

All aspects of an individuals physical and social care when working as part of a team but capeable of working unsupervised.

Ensure good housekeeping skills through good management of services, water, gas, electricity and all eqiupment that is used during the shift.

Housekeeping duties as outlined by the home manager. This includes cleaning of designated area, laundry, preperation of vegatables and preperation for breakfast to be served(breakfast trays). To also ensure beds are made, commodes clean and rooms left tidy after assisting residents.

Carry out emergency procedures as necessary in respect of accidents, illnesss, death and fire.

To fully understand the fire safety requirements for fire prevention and fire alarm procedures.

To be familiar with the homes health and safety policies in relation to fire precuations, food hygiene, infection control, emergeny procedures and first aid.

To follow the procedures to ensure the health, safety and security to all residents, fellow workers and yourself. Report any damage or fault to equipment, furniture and fittings to the manger/s and/or senior carer.

Attend staff meetings and training. To have good effective communication skills verbally and in writing.

To be responsible for your own personal development under the guidance of the management team.

To administer medication as prescribed after medication training completed.
Any other duties consistent with the business of the home, your grade and hours of work as may reasonably be required of you
