We are seeking a reliable and compassionate Night Care Assistant to join a small, dedicated care team supporting a gentleman with complex health needs in his own home.
About the Client
You'll be caring for a kind and resilient gentleman who, despite facing multiple health challenges, communicates effectively through facial expressions, eye pointing, and vocalisations. He lives with a movement disorder, neuromuscular scoliosis, a left leg amputation, moderate hearing loss, and uses a PEG/jej feeding tube. He is also a full-time wheelchair user and has a history of seizures--so attentiveness and a calm presence are vital.
Your Key Responsibilities
Overnight Care & Repositioning:
Provide personal care and repositioning support to ensure comfort and prevent pressure sores.
Communication Support:
Respond to non-verbal cues using the client's preferred communication methods.
Seizure Monitoring:
Stay alert to seizure activity and respond in accordance with training and care protocols.
Wellbeing Checks:
Carry out regular checks throughout the night to ensure safety and comfort.
Accurate Documentation:
Maintain clear and precise care notes and provide effective handovers at shift change.
What We're Looking For
Experience in complex care is preferred, particularly in areas such as PEG feeding, seizure support, and mobility care - but full training will be provided.
Confidence in recognising and responding to non-verbal communication.
Someone calm, dependable, and capable of working independently throughout the night.
A respectful, person-centred approach to care.
Prior 1:1 home care experience is essential.
