Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Night Care Assistant to provide exceptional overnight care and support to residents in a long-term care or assisted living environment. This vital role ensures the safety, comfort, and well-being of residents during nighttime hours by monitoring their needs, assisting with personal care, and responding promptly to any emergencies. The ideal candidate will bring energy, attentiveness, and a genuine desire to enhance residents' quality of life through attentive caregiving and professional medical support.

Responsibilities

Monitor residents' safety, health status, and overall well-being throughout the night shift by conducting regular checks and vital signs assessments. Assist residents with personal care activities such as hygiene, mobility, comfort needs while respecting their dignity and preferences. Respond swiftly and effectively to emergencies or urgent situations, including medical incidents or behavioral challenges, following established protocols. Document all resident interactions, health observations, medication records, and incident reports accurately using electronic health record (EHR) systems like Care Vision. Coordinate with Senior staff or emergency services as necessary to ensure prompt medical attention for residents requiring additional care. Maintain a safe environment by adhering to infection control procedures, aseptic techniques, and safety protocols including proper use of equipment like Hoist lifts Support residents with specialized needs such as dementia or Alzheimer's care, memory care routines, or behavioral health considerations during overnight hours.

Skills

Prior work in long-term care facilities including assisted living, nursing/Care homes, or hospice care provides valuable insight into senior and memory care needs. Knowledge of medical terminology, vital signs monitoring, medication administration, catheter care, and basic life support (BLS). Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR/EHR systems) such as Care Vision, or eClinicalWorks for accurate documentation. Experience working with diverse populations including seniors, individuals with disabilities or developmental disabilities, and those requiring dementia or Alzheimer's care. Ability to perform physically demanding tasks involving patient mobility aids like Hoist and to follow aseptic techniques to prevent infection. Strong communication skills coupled with a compassionate approach to patient service ensure respectful interactions during overnight caregiving.
