34 Hours Per Week
Do you want to make a real difference to the lives of children and young people within residential care and have a passion for working with children in the UK? If so, this is an exciting opportunity to join Newport City Council's residential service.
We are looking for the right values, motivation and commitment to work in this rewarding yet challenging role.
Experience of working with children would be preferable but we also recognise that individuals come with a wide range of experiences and transferable skills and so it is not essential. We offer an excellent induction and training package, including supporting you to attain a level 3 qualification in working with Children and Young people, if you do not already have this. We also provide training and support to enable you to work in an attachment focussed way and provide children with the much-needed support, and the opportunity for you to be able to build a healthy & positive relationship, which can result in you, having the biggest and most rewarding impact on that child's life.
We are recruiting a night care officer to support the children overnight. You will work a 34-hour contract with shifts that run 21.45 till 07.15 on a 2-week rota. Bridge View House will run 365 days a year, 24 hour a day and you will be required to work weekends and bank holidays.
The starting base salary for this position is 25,584. In recognition of night-time working hours, an additional night-time enhancement of 3.33% is applied to the salary, resulting in an annual take-home pay starting at 31,345.38.
If you wish to discuss this role further, please contact Amanda.callaghan@newport.gov.uk for an informal conversation.
This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (1974) and a comprehensive screening process will be undertaken on all applicants. This will include an enhanced check with the Disclosure and Barring Service.
We welcome applications for all our jobs in either Welsh or English. An application submitted in Welsh will not be treated less favourably than an application submitted in English.
Newport City Council is committed to working towards its workforce being more representative of the population that we serve and particularly welcomes applications from people from minority ethnic communities represented (or living) in the city. Selection will be made on ability and skills to undertake the role.
Newport City Council is not currently supporting applicants with sponsorship for right to work. In applying for a vacancy, applicants should already have the right to work in the UK.
