CATS College offers an outstanding international pre-university educational experience to students aged 14+ from all over the world. JOB OVERVIEW



The Night House Parent plays a key role within the Wellbeing Department, ensuring the security, safety, and wellbeing of students overnight in the boarding houses. Acting in loco parentis, the Night House Parent provides pastoral support, oversees security checks, and ensures a safe and supportive residential environment.


The role requires vigilance, empathy, and professionalism, with a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all students in line with statutory duty of care responsibilities.


This is a waking night position: the postholder must remain awake and alert throughout their shift.

WORKING HOURS



This role averages 33.5 hours per week across a two-week rolling rota.

Night shifts will not exceed an average of 8 hours in a 24-hour period, in compliance with Working Time Regulations, with appropriate rest breaks provided.

PERSON SPECIFICATION



Essential



Experience of working with young people in a residential, educational, or care setting.

Strong safeguarding knowledge and commitment to student welfare.

Ability to remain calm, professional, and empathetic in challenging situations.

Good organisational, administrative, and IT skills (Microsoft Office, Outlook, databases).

Understanding of duty of care and health & safety responsibilities.

Ability to work independently overnight while maintaining effective communication with colleagues.

Minimum age of 18 (due to safeguarding requirements).

Desirable



First aid training (or willingness to undertake).

Previous experience in a boarding school or similar environment.

Basic maintenance or caretaking skills.
