Job Title: Night Manager

To oversee the hotel operations during the night hours, ensuring the safety, security, and comfort of all guests while maintaining the highest standards of service and presentation. The Night Manager acts as the main point of contact for guests during the night and is responsible for reception duties, health & safety compliance, and smooth overnight running of the hotel.

Key Responsibilities:

Guest Service & Reception Duties

Provide a warm welcome to guests arriving late and ensure efficient check-in and check-out procedures. Handle guest enquiries, requests, and complaints promptly and professionally. Manage room allocations, reservations amendments, and billing in line with hotel policy. Complete nightly audit tasks, ensuring all daily transactions balance and reports are produced accurately. Prepare detailed handovers for the morning team. Answer telephone and email enquiries during the night shift. Maintain cleanliness and presentation of the reception and lobby areas.
Safety, Security & Health and Safety

Take full responsibility for hotel safety and security during the night. Conduct regular security patrols of all areas, ensuring doors and fire exits are secure. Act as the Fire Warden on duty - manage emergency evacuations and ensure fire procedures are followed. Respond to any incidents, accidents, or guest medical emergencies following hotel protocol. Maintain accurate records in the duty and incident logs. Monitor CCTV and alarm systems and respond to alerts.
Hotel Operations & Standards

Oversee cleanliness and presentation of public areas overnight, coordinating with housekeeping where required. Prepare early breakfast trays and assist with setting up breakfast areas if required. Support bar closure and cashing up where necessary. Ensure all departments are ready for the next day's operations. Manage night team members, ensuring productivity and adherence to standards. Liaise with maintenance and report any faults or issues that require attention.
Administration & Reporting

Complete the night audit, balancing daily revenue and producing end-of-day reports. Ensure accurate posting of room charges, restaurant bills, and other revenue. Prepare daily summaries for management and accounts. Handle cash floats securely and reconcile tills if required.
Skills & Experience Required:

Previous experience in hotel reception or front office, ideally in a supervisory or night manager role. Strong knowledge of hotel front office systems (PMS experience preferred). Excellent communication and customer service skills. Ability to work independently and remain calm under pressure. Understanding of fire safety, first aid, and security procedures (training provided). Attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
Working Hours:

Typically 5 nights per week, 10:00pm - 7:00am (may vary by rota). Weekend and holiday availability required.
