Main Purpose of Role:
The
Night Service Team Leader
will play a vital role in leading and coordinating services that support individuals experiencing homelessness and addiction during night hours. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference by ensuring the safe, compassionate, and effective delivery of support across the service. You will provide strong leadership and clear direction to a dedicated team of outreach workers, ensuring that every shift runs smoothly and that each interaction promotes wellbeing, safety, and dignity. The role involves overseeing the night rota, supervising and developing staff, and ensuring that all activities are structured to meet the diverse needs of service users through harm reduction, group support, and appropriate referrals.
As
Night Service Team Leader
, you will take full ownership of the night service, ensuring that all outreach activities are delivered to the highest professional standards. You'll lead a committed team, coordinate outreach efforts, and make real-time decisions that safeguard both staff and service users. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring empathy, resilience, and sound judgement, with the opportunity to shape a service that truly changes lives. You'll champion a person-centred, non-judgmental approach, ensuring that the team provides timely and effective assistance while maintaining a culture of respect, safety, and support throughout the night.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership & Supervision:
? Lead and manage a team of outreach workers, ensuring that they are well-prepared and supported throughout their shifts. Provide ongoing guidance and motivation, and foster a collaborative and supportive environment.
? Coordinate the evening and night outreach work, including the management of van pick-up services for individuals who use drugs and are in need of assistance.
? Ensure the team operates in line with organisational values, maintaining high standards of care and professionalism.
? Conduct regular team meetings, debriefs, and one-to-one support to promote staff development and maintain wellbeing, offering regular feedback and coaching.
Rota & Shift Management:
? Develop, manage, and update the staff rota to ensure sufficient coverage for all shifts, especially during peak hours.
? Handle any shift changes or absences promptly to avoid disruption in services.
Service Delivery & Coordination:
? Coordinate the safe and effective delivery of outreach services, ensuring that individuals in need are safely transported and provided with necessary harm reduction support.

Facilitate group activities
that promote wellbeing, encourage personal development, and foster peer support. This includes leading group discussions, addiction recovery support sessions, and therapeutic activities that allow individuals to share experiences, gain coping skills, and support each other in their recovery journey.
? Offer guidance, support, and harm reduction strategies to individuals accessing services.
? Make appropriate referrals to daytime services and other external support networks to help individuals progress beyond immediate night-time support.
Record-Keeping & Reporting:
? Ensure accurate and timely documentation of all interactions with service users, including case notes, referrals, and incident reports.
? Regularly assess service users' needs and provide detailed reports to senior management on service usage, outcomes, and any emerging trends.
Health, Safety, and Safeguarding:
? Ensure that all team members adhere to health and safety protocols, especially in emergency situations or high-risk scenarios.
? Monitor the safeguarding of all service users, responding swiftly and appropriately to any concerns or incidents of harm.
Collaboration & Partnership:
? Work closely with external organisations and agencies to build a network of support for service users.
? Develop and maintain relationships with local services such as shelters, detox centres, and emergency health services.
Person Specification:
Essential:
Proven experience in leading or supervising a team,
in a social care, homelessness, or addiction setting.
Knowledge of harm reduction practices, addiction issues, and homelessness.
Ability to remain calm and effective in challenging or crisis situations.
Experience in managing rotas and coordinating staff schedules.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Empathy and understanding of the issues faced by individuals experiencing homelessness and addiction.
Ability to deliver structured group activities and provide support in a non-judgmental, person-centred way.
Ability to keep accurate records and report in a timely manner.
Desirable:
Qualification in social care, addiction studies, or a related field.
Experience in working with marginalised groups or in outreach services.
First aid or other relevant certifications.
Drivers licence required.
