Job Title: Night Shift Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

Location: Pontrilas, Herefordshire

Hours: Sunday to Thursday, 21:45 - 06:15 (40 hours per week)

Salary: 35,591 - 42,985 per year plus weekly production bonus

About the Role

An experienced Night Shift Mechanical Maintenance Engineer is required to support operations within a busy industrial production facility. This hands-on role involves carrying out preventative and reactive maintenance, diagnosing faults, and supporting mechanical projects to ensure reliable and safe operation of plant machinery during night shifts.

Key Responsibilities

Carry out preventative and reactive maintenance on mechanical systems and production machinery Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical faults to minimise downtime Deliver mechanical project work including upgrades, installations, and system improvements Support the integration and commissioning of new machinery Work with hydraulic and pneumatic systems to ensure reliable performance Perform welding and fabrication tasks (MMA and MIG) as required Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with health and safety standards Collaborate with engineering and production teams to support night operations Maintain accurate records of maintenance and project activities
Candidate Requirements

Qualified mechanical engineer (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent) Proven experience in an industrial, manufacturing, or heavy engineering environment Strong mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving skills Hands-on experience with: Hydraulics and pneumatics Welding (MMA and MIG) Conveyors, sawmill machinery, or similar heavy production equipment (desirable) Ability to work independently and proactively during night shifts Good knowledge of health and safety procedures and compliance requirements Reliable, professional, and safety-conscious attitude
