To remain awake, alert and responsive in order to meet service users nocturnal requirements, support, medication etc. To monitor sleep patterns, physical health needs and complete documentation required.
To support service users during the evening, night and early mornings. Night staff offer a unique service as they work with residents in quieter moments, when many residents find it difficult to rest, requiring reassurance and support.
You will assist the service user to develop good interpersonal skills and adopt coping strategies that will enhance their quality of life.
Working in accordance with Government Legislation and National Minimum Standards you will be responsible for carrying out an individual's care plan and following specific written and verbal guidelines relating to the care of the individual.
Responsibilities to the Service User include:
Provide Waking support for Service Users
Including service users in all decisions that have an effect on their lives.
To ensure that all service users are given a high standard of care
To encourage and support the development of the service user with daily living tasks
To support service users to identify and achieve lifelong goals, ie work placements, relationships
To encourage and support service users to take assessed risks .
To act as advocate for service users if required
To engage the service user in meaningful activities that will enhance their life experience
The factual reporting of events that have occurred and to participate in service users team meetings
To participate in evening activities within the local community.
To safely administer or support service users to self administer medications as prescribed by health services and in accordance with the companies' medication policy.
Responsibilities to the company include;
To meet service users support needs and funding support needs by offering an awake service to service users
Delivering a high standard of care based on written guidelines
To ensure good working practices and to strictly adhere to all company policies and procedures
To participate in staff and client meetings
To work flexibly within the rota to ensure the safe management of the care home
To provide written information as required within the appropriate format
To adhere to department of health guidelines ' essential steps to safe clean care'
To look after the general appearance of the home which deep cleaning tasks of communal areas of the home and reporting to the homes manager any broken or defective furniture or appliances
Securing the property to ensure safety and security of Service Users, staff, medication and confidential information.
To assist in the development of staff by sharing skills and experience with other staff
