2 x 12-Hour Sleep-in Shifts (Mon & Tues) | 9PM - 9AM
Permanent | 16-17 per hour for 4 awake hours + minimum wage for 8 sleep hours + 2/hour weekend uplift (awake hours only)

About the Role


We're looking for a dedicated and compassionate Sleep-in Night Worker to provide 2:1 care for a dependent with an acquired brain injury and epilepsy. You'll be part of an experienced team delivering high-quality, person-centred support during night hours.

This is a permanent, part-time role, working 2 x 12-hour sleep-in shifts on Monday and Tuesday nights (9PM-9AM). You'll be alongside another support worker (who will be completing a waking night shift), awake for approximately 4 hours during the early and late parts of the night to provide essential care and support, while sleeping for the remaining 8 hours. Due to needing 2:1 care, if the night shift support worker requires assistance, you will be required to support throughout the night.

Additional night hours may become available in the future, and there is also the opportunity to cover day shifts to support the wider team during annual leave or sickness absences offering flexibility and extra hours for the right candidate.

Please note: Sleep-in shifts allow for rest periods; however, if the dependent requires support more than three times during the night, the shift would be reclassified as a waking night, requiring continuous awake care. Also, if a waking night carer is on annual leave or sick leave, the sleep-in carer must cover as the waking night carer, providing vital continuity of care in a supportive team environment.

This role involves physical tasks including manual handling and night work, so physical fitness and emotional resilience are important.

Working within a family home requires an awareness that your workplace is part of a private family environment. You are expected to demonstrate respect, discretion, and empathy at all times. You will also be working with family.

Due to the rural location, you must have a valid driving licence and access to a vehicle.

What You'll Be Doing



Providing close and continuous monitoring of the dependent throughout the night, with particular attention to seizure activity and overall wellbeing during your awake periods Using hoisting equipment safely and confidently for all necessary transfers this is an essential part of the role Delivering personal care and repositioning as required during awake times Assisting with feeding and nutrition, including the careful preparation and offering of meals tailored to the dependent's needs Administering medication, including medication via PEG Supporting with the dependent's bedtime and night routines during awake periods Attending to the dependent when she is awake, keeping her happy and comfortable, and helping to settle her back to sleep by reading to her Carrying out household responsibilities, including deep cleaning, laundry, and maintenance of care equipment to ensure a safe and hygienic environment Being alert, present, and responsive whenever the dependent wakes during the night

What We're Looking For



Experience working as a Support Worker, ideally with:
o Epilepsy care
o PEG feeding and medication via PEG
o Manual handling and hoisting, you must be confident and experienced in using hoisting equipment

Minimum Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care, or equivalent experience (e.g., completed first year of a health profession degree) Experience in healthcare is a plus - but full training will be provided if you bring the right attitude and values. A genuine passion for helping others, combined with a professional approach, honesty, and transparency in all aspects of care and communication A calm, caring nature and emotional resilience suited to the physical and emotional demands of night work Respectful and comfortable supporting the client's

Christian faith

by reading Christian books and playing Christian music as part of her daily routine (no personal faith requirements necessary) Enhanced DBS check will be required Valid driving licence and access to a vehicle due to rural location
