These placement opportunities are open to:


NHS healthcare professionals working in the NIHR Manchester BRC's partner NHS Trusts, including clinical or biomedical scientists

Manchester BRC postdoctoral researchers and PhD students interested in diagnostics and translational research

Manchester BRC project managers


Applicants must have approval from their line manager/supervisor to apply, and successful candidates must be able to begin their placement on the 19 January 2026.



To support the release of employees for the duration of the 12-week placement, employers will receive backfill funding of up to 6,000 per participant, based on the employee's current salary.



PhD students may either integrate the placement into their PhD programme, with the agreement of their supervisor, or take a formal study interruption for its duration. In both cases, they will continue to receive their stipend. If a study interruption is taken, the 12-week period will be added to the end of their PhD programme.
