NMR is seeking a motivated and reliable individual to join our team as a Self-Employed Milk Recorder in the Chesterfield/Barlow area. This is an excellent opportunity to work independently, support local dairy farmers, and play a vital role in herd management and milk quality improvement.
As a Milk Recorder, your main responsibilities will include visiting dairy farms on a pre-arranged schedule-often early mornings, evenings, and occasionally weekends. You will collect individual cow milk samples and accurately record essential herd data during milking sessions, ensuring compliance with NMR's high standards for data integrity and animal welfare. Your role is crucial in providing farmers with the information they need to make informed decisions for herd health and productivity. You will be responsible for the correct use and maintenance of sampling equipment, prompt delivery or dispatch of samples, and secure handling of all data collected. Building strong, professional relationships with farmers and representing NMR with a positive attitude are essential parts of the role.
This position is ideal for someone with excellent attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and the ability to work independently. Previous experience with livestock or in the dairy industry is helpful but not essential, as full training will be provided. A valid UK driving licence and your own reliable transport are required, as travel between farms is a key part of the job. You should be comfortable working in outdoor, farm environments and adaptable to varying schedules.
