Are you looking for flexible, rewarding work in the agricultural sector? National Milk Records (NMR) is seeking a self-motivated and reliable Self-Employed Milk Recorder to join our team, servicing dairy farms along the M6 corridor and in the Macclesfield area. As a Milk Recorder, you will play a key role in supporting local dairy farmers by collecting accurate milk yield and quality data, which is vital for herd management and the improvement of dairy production. This role offers the autonomy of self-employment, allowing you to manage your own schedule and workload while becoming an integral part of the farming community.
Your main duties will involve visiting assigned dairy farms to sample and record milk from individual cows during milking sessions, using NMR's specialist equipment and software. You will be responsible for ensuring all samples are labelled correctly, data is recorded accurately, and samples are transported securely for laboratory analysis. Good communication skills are essential, as you'll liaise with farm staff to coordinate recording sessions and resolve any issues that may arise. You'll also need to maintain high standards of hygiene and adhere strictly to health and safety guidelines at all times.
The ideal candidate will be organized, methodical, and comfortable working independently in a farm environment. Access to your own reliable transport is essential, as the role involves travelling between multiple farms-sometimes at unsociable hours to fit in with milking schedules. Basic IT skills are required for data entry and reporting, and prior experience in agriculture, animal husbandry, or similar roles will be advantageous, though not essential as full training will be provided. If you are passionate about agriculture and enjoy working in the field, we would love to hear from you.
