Are you passionate about agriculture and interested in supporting the dairy industry? NMR is seeking a dedicated Self-Employed Milk Recorder to join our team, covering the South Bucks and Thame area. As a Milk Recorder, you will work closely with local dairy farmers to collect and record vital milk production data, supporting them in making informed herd management decisions. This is a flexible, self-employed role ideal for someone who enjoys working independently, has excellent attention to detail, and values building relationships within the farming community.
Your main duties will include visiting farms on a regular schedule, collecting and accurately recording milk samples from individual cows during milking, and carefully completing all necessary documentation. You will be responsible for the safe handling and transportation of milk samples to designated laboratories, ensuring that records are maintained to a high standard of accuracy and confidentiality. You will also play an important role in communicating with farmers, answering any queries about the milk recording process, and providing feedback on herd performance where appropriate.
The ideal candidate will have their own reliable transport and be comfortable working early mornings, evenings, and weekends as required by farm milking times. While previous experience in dairy farming or animal husbandry is advantageous, full training and support will be provided. You should have good literacy, numeracy, and IT skills, as some data entry and use of handheld technology is required. A friendly, professional approach and a genuine interest in the agricultural sector are essential.
