NMR is seeking a reliable and organised Self-Employed Milk Sampler to join our team, covering the Berkeley, Thornbury, and Stroud areas. This field-based position involves visiting local dairy farms to collect milk samples according to a set schedule and ensuring accurate data collection for our milk recording services. You'll play a vital role in supporting herd health and farm productivity by helping farmers monitor milk quality and yield.
Your main responsibilities will include visiting farms, collecting milk samples from milking parlours or tanks, labelling and recording sample data accurately, and delivering samples to designated drop-off points or laboratories in a timely manner. You'll liaise with farm staff to coordinate visits, follow strict hygiene protocols, and maintain your sampling equipment. This is a self-employed position, so you will be responsible for managing your own schedule, mileage, and administrative tasks. You'll need to be comfortable working independently, sometimes early in the morning or in the evening, depending on farm milking times.
The ideal candidate will have a full UK driving licence and access to a reliable vehicle, be physically fit for manual work, and possess excellent attention to detail. Good communication skills and the ability to build rapport with farm staff are essential. Previous experience in agriculture or dairy is helpful but not essential, as full training will be provided.
