Non Specific Symptoms Nurse Practitioner

Stoke-on-Trent, ENG, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

The Non-Specific Symptoms service at UHNM is at the forefront of developing new ways of working to improve the care and service for patients with non-specific symptoms which are thought to be caused by cancer. With the aim of early diagnosis of cancer, the intention is to extend the service in portals across the hospital to identify those patients who will benefit from this pathway and also to run a pilot of self-referral

Many patients visit their GP with vague or general symptoms such as weight loss and tiredness. These 'non-specific' symptoms may sometimes be caused by a serious disease such as cancer, but there could be a number of reasons for these symptoms and although the risk of serious disease is low, there are some patients for whom, early tests could help make a diagnosis quicker and treatment started sooner. The non-specific symptom pathway at UHNM is designed to provide the quickest most efficient way to reach a diagnosis in patients who have these symptoms.

With this in mind, an opportunity has arisen for motivated Nurse Practitioner to become part of a highly skilled established team for a fixed term secondment in order to expand this pathway.

Applicants should already possess a health assessment and non-medical nurse prescribing qualification and they should have already achieved or be working towards a Masters level qualification.
