Moore Barlow is currently seeking a newly-qualified Solicitor (or Legal Executive) to join our specialist Financial Services Litigation team based in our offices in Chandler's Ford

.

This is a growth position that has come about as a result of the significant and consistent instructions received by the team.*

Any CILEx practitioner interested in this position will need to have the requisite litigation practicing rights, or a portfolio of evidence that would support their application for this separate accreditation.*

Our Financial Services Litigation team, led by Susannah Marsh, offers exceptional expertise across the sector. We act for a wide range of lender clients - including commercial, residential, second charge, bridging, short-term, development, and other bespoke asset-based lenders. With more than 20 years' experience, we have built a strong reputation for delivering a flexible mix of fixed-fee and tailored services.


Working alongside them, our Repossession Sales team provides a market-leading conveyancing service, supporting lender clients and receivers with the sale of repossessed properties. Together, these teams deliver an unrivalled service within the industry.

Day to day:

Navigating a dispute can be challenging and stressful. At Moore Barlow, our goal is to reach fair, effective resolutions while keeping the process as straightforward as possible. We focus on providing clarity around potential outcomes and pride ourselves on handling disputes calmly and rationally, always working towards the best result for our clients.


As a qualified lawyer, you will be a part of the "complex" team within the department, which also consists of Susannah Marsh (Partner) and Ashley Moughtin (Senior Associate). As the name suggests, this team handles the higher-value and more complex instructions received by the department, distinguishing it from other parts of the team that handle more process-driven matters.


You will manage a varied caseload of defended mortgage repossession work, gradually taking on greater responsibility and more technically demanding cases as you develop your skills and confidence in this niche area of practice. Alongside your own caseload, you will have the opportunity to assist the Partner and Senior Associate on their high-value instructions, offering valuable exposure and experience that will further support your professional development.


Additionally, you will play a very key role within the department by supporting and supervising the Paralegals and Senior Paralegals in the wider team who deal with the high-volume undefended litigation work. Acting as a first point of contact for queries and as a qualified supervisor, you'll provide essential guidance across a range of litigious work.


This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in this specialist area of law. You will be immersed in the litigation process from start to finish, building a strong foundation of knowledge and practical skills that will serve you throughout your career.


You will also have the chance to work with a diverse range of commercial clients, helping you to develop valuable commercial awareness and the ability to adapt your approach to different business needs. Alongside this, you will be supported by highly experienced colleagues who have been working with the team for many years, giving you the chance to learn directly from experts while carving out your own reputation in this area of practice.

In addition;

We are ideally seeking a newly qualified lawyer (Solicitor or Legal Executive) with between 0-1PQE. We appreciate that this is a niche area of practice and would therefore be open to applicants who have general litigation experience - exposure to debt recovery and breach of contract matters would be beneficial. Our team works to deadlines and other service level agreements that we have in place with our clients; therefore, you will be calm under pressure, adopt a naturally proactive and organised approach to your work, with the ability to adapt to short-notice changes in priorities. You will be confident in building relationships within and outside of your immediate team and able to work collaboratively to achieve the best possible outcomes for our clients.
