NRSWA and Permitting Compliance Officer - Highway Works Permit Team
2-Year Fixed Term Contract
We are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity for a Permitting Compliance Officer to join our Highway Works Permit Team, contributing to the continued success and growth of Solihull.
Solihull is experiencing sustained economic development, with major infrastructure projects underway. Initiatives such as Project Gigabit are enhancing broadband connectivity across the borough, while utility companies are actively upgrading and replacing outdated assets. As a result, the volume of utility works is increasing significantly.
In this dynamic environment, the Permitting Compliance Officer plays a vital role in minimising disruption to road users, residents, and businesses. You will be responsible for ensuring that works are carried out safely and to a high standard, both during execution and upon completion. Your duties will include:
Monitoring and inspecting works on-site.
Attending site meetings and liaising with Highway Work promoters.
Issuing defects, fixed penalty notices, and overruns.
Supporting records management and providing technical support.
Ensuring compliance with the Council's statutory Traffic Management duties.
To succeed in this role, you will bring:
A Level 3 qualification in Traffic or Highways Management, or equivalent experience.
Proven knowledge of traffic management and work coordination systems.
Strong IT skills and proficiency in using various systems and applications.
A proactive approach with excellent negotiation, influencing, and diplomacy skills.
