Job Description


Barnabas Medical Centre is a friendly, supportive practice in North West London seeking a proactive and dedicated Nursing Associate (Band 4) to cover a maternity leave position for a period of 6 to 9 months. The successful candidate will work 2 - 3 days per week, providing valuable support to our existing team of three nurses.
Main duties of the job

  • Clinical Care:Perform clinical tasks such as venipuncture, ECG recording, monitoring vital signs, and wound care. Support patients with nutrition, hydration, and continence care.
  • Patient Monitoring:Continuously assess and report patients conditions, ensuring their privacy, dignity, and safety.
  • Care Planning:Contribute to patient care assessments and plans, implementing evidence-based care in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Communication:Provide clear information and support to patients, families, and careers. Share critical updates with the nursing team.
  • Supervision & Delegation:Assist in developing junior staff and student nurses, delegating tasks appropriately while maintaining quality care standards.
  • Quality Improvement:Participate in audits, health and safety activities, and initiatives to enhance patient care.

Job responsibilities
Clinical Care
Carry out clinical duties such as blood pressure monitoring, venepuncture, ECGs, wound care, and flu vaccinations (following training).
Support patients with nutrition, hydration, continence care, and general wellbeing.
Perform and record clinical observations in line with care plans and protocols. Care Coordination & Documentation

Maintain accurate, contemporaneous patient records in accordance with NMC and practice guidelines. Patient Support & Communication
Communicate effectively with patients, families, and carers, providing reassurance and health education where appropriate.

Participate in PCN activities including Child Health Hubs and Integrated Neighbourhood Team work.
Engage in regular MDT meetings, supporting integration of care across primary, secondary, and social care settings.
Supervise student nurses, healthcare assistants, and trainees where appropriate. Quality Improvement & Governance
Engage in practice-based audits, Quality Improvement initiatives, and health and safety activities.
Uphold standards of infection control, confidentiality, safeguarding, and equality and diversity.

  • Experience of working in primary care.
Desirable
  • Evidence of ongoing CPD and training maintained via RCGP competence or own training portfolio which is in line or transferable to RCGP competence
