About the role

We are seeking an exceptional and experienced Nurse Consultant to lead the development and delivery of our innovative Women's Health and Well-Being Hubs across three female prison sites in Surrey: HMP Bronzefield, HMP Send, and HMP Downview .

This is a pioneering role where your clinical expertise, leadership and advanced practice skills will directly shape services for women in custody, individuals who frequently experience complex health inequalities, including trauma, self-harm, substance misuse, reproductive health concerns, and long-term physical and mental health challenges.

The Women's Health Hubs are dedicated, nurse-led, nurse-delivered spaces designed to deliver accessible, trauma-informed, integrated care. They aim to improve health outcomes, reduce reliance on urgent and emergency interventions, and provide structured, proactive healthcare for some of the most marginalised women in our society.

We are looking for an advanced clinical nurse leader who is:

NMC-registered with significant senior-level experience in advanced practice and leadership.

Skilled in women's health, trauma-informed care, and complex case management.

Experienced in working within or alongside health and justice services (desirable, not essential).

Knowledgeable in governance, quality improvement, and research methodologies.

A dynamic leader who can inspire multidisciplinary teams and drive innovation in practice.

Committed to addressing health inequalities and improving outcomes for women in custody.

What we offer

A unique and rewarding opportunity to transform healthcare for women in prisons.

Dedicated time and resources to lead clinical, educational, research, and leadership programmes.

A bespoke clinical leadership career pathway including professional development, mentorship, research opportunities, and supervision.

The chance to shape and influence the future of trauma-informed care for women within health and justice services.

Main duties of the job (please see attached job description for full info on role)

Undertake clinical and regulatory audits, quality improvement programmes, and research activity.

Contribute to the Senior Leadership Team, ensuring high professional standards and safe, effective care delivery.

Inspire, influence, and motivate colleagues across the service to deliver excellence in women's health within a health and justice context.
