The Clinical Nurse Specialist will hold a pivotal role within the Adult Neurodevelopmental Service - ADHD Service, working as part of a small, highly skilled team comprising an NMP, Nurse Associate, Consultant Psychiatrist and Admin.
As a Nurse Independent Prescriber, the post holder will undertake specialist ADHD assessments, initiate and adjust medication in line with clinical guidelines, and provide safe, evidence-based prescribing. This will be complemented by advanced clinical interventions, ongoing case management, and close collaboration with the consultant doctor to ensure high-quality, person-centred care.
Together, the team delivers core functions including the ADHD Transitions Service and the Annual Review Service for ADHD. The post holder will act as the principal link between young people transitioning from Children's Specialist Mental Health Services into adult care, and adults requiring annual medication reviews under Shared Care Agreements with their GP.
This role combines advanced clinical expertise, service coordination, and professional liaison. Working closely with the consultant doctor and other stakeholders, the post holder will be responsible for delivering specialist assessments, therapeutic interventions, and ongoing care, whilst ensuring effective communication and collaboration across multi-agency networks.
Undertaking comprehensive clinical reviews of ADHD medication and care plans, in partnership with GPs and in accordance with Shared Care Agreements.
Co -lead and manage the ADHD Transitions Service, ensuring the smooth transfer of care for young people with complex mental health needs from children's to adult services.
Deliver specialist clinical assessments, formulate evidence-based medication plans, and implement therapeutic interventions tailored to the needs of individuals with ADHD
Facilitate effective liaison between children's services, adult mental health teams, GPs, and other statutory and voluntary sector partners.
Monitor, analyse, and report on service performance metrics, including waiting list management and outcome measures.
Provide clinical supervision, mentorship, and professional support to colleagues and students on placement.
Contribute to the design and delivery of ADHD-related training and awareness initiatives for internal staff and external stakeholders.
