Purpose




As Nurse Practitioner you will use your developed knowledge, skill and experience to provide support, guidance and education regarding dermatology and aesthetics, to clinical staff within The Dermatology Partnership. You will assist the Head of Nursing in ensuring the provision of high-quality care throughout TDP by participating and contributing to the review at each stage of the patient journey (consultation, assessment, implementation and evaluation of care) and acting to improve services where identified.





Role Summary





We are seeking an experienced Nurse Injector to join our growing team. You will deliver injectable treatments and other aesthetic / dermatology services in line with clinic standards, protocols, and clinical pathways, ensuring best practice, adherence to RCN/NMC guidelines, and excellent patient care.

Key Responsibilities



Support the dermatology and aesthetics nursing team through research/ learning to compile and agree protocols, guidelines and care pathways for nurse-led clinics and clinic services. Anticipate any key changes in best practice and provide a pro-active approach to managing and implementing this across the group. Advise the Head of Nursing / Practice Manager of any issues that may affect the provision of care/treatment of dermatology/aesthetic patients. Working within a clinic - continue in an autonomous manner, using an evidence-based approach to clinical practice and manage patients in conjunction with specialist clinicians. Assist in the creation of a robust, in-house training and development programme for nursing / care staff where patient safety and treatment needs remain paramount Engage and partake in responsibility for the development of competency based assessments in a range of dermatology and aesthetics skills undertaken by nursing staff within the Group Actively participate in driving standards to meet and where possible exceed CQC Regulation and Standards Prioritise Patient Safety through active review and implementation of excellent Infection Prevention and Control standards within TDP clinics, identifying areas of improvement and implementing measures to meet high quality standards

Clinical Responsibilities



Assisting Dermatologists and Surgeons with a range of specialised procedures such as general dermatology and skin care surgery Ensure compliance with relevant NICE Guidelines, BDNG Competencies and NMC Code Ensure compliance with Clinical Policies and Procedures Assist and chaperone patients whilst clinical examinations/procedures are being undertaken Provide high standards of care in various clinics including delivery of injectables Clinical supervision of junior staff Liaise with other Clinics to share best practice and identify better ways of working in line with Company standards Educate staff and each patient on how to protect their skin, prevent illnesses and care for skin diseases/conditions at home Embrace new technology and practice to support in the provision of out-standing patient care Work with the Head of Nursing to audit and develop nurse-led follow-up services

Act as role model and promote excellence in nursing practice as well as promoting professional and clinical nursing skills within the Group. Be responsible for working within the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and all company guidelines. Maintain and respect patient confidentiality. Work in accordance with local and national guidelines from NICE & BAD. Maintain an expert level of competence and continue with your own personal and professional development through relevant professional and academic study. Maintain accurate and up to date medical and nursing notes in accordance with Company Policy and NMC guidelines. Actively participate in your appraisal and in the development of a personal development review (PDR). Undertaking relevant mandatory training when stipulated Support the patient throughout their visit ensuring safe and effective care from start to finish Ensure patients and carers have received sufficient and relevant verbal and written information Act as patient advocate and strive for high levels of patient satisfaction Promoting high standards of clinical care to all our patients Supervise and demonstrate procedures to junior staff qualified and unqualified Assist in the mentoring and teaching of student nurses, bank nurses and HCAs within the Clinic Participate in multidisciplinary team care and contribute actively towards its successful management Provide strong, visible and accessible leadership and management for your staff

Systems and Equipment



Record biographical details of individuals in manual and computerised records Maintain general tidiness and cleanliness of the department Prepare clinical area and department prior to start of any clinic undertaken and support the Clinic as a whole in this provision if required to ensure a smooth service.

Clinical Governance



Ensure awareness and adherence to TDP policies, demonstrating this through role modelling and in response to poor audit results Consistently maintain and demonstrate excellent Health and Safety standards in accordance with TDP Policy Challenge poor infection prevention and control practices of others and report any breaches, using appropriate Trust mechanisms (e.g., incident reporting policy) Ensure support and action in relation to Clinical Governance measures. Audit, Act and Review to ensure adherence to requirements and implement measures aimed to prevent reoccurrence Disposal of clinical waste in line with Health and Safety guidelines Undertake clinical incident reporting as per TDP Incident Policy Always maintain patient confidentiality, adhering to GDPR requirements Participate in the undertaking of clinical audit to evaluate services and identify / implement improvements as necessary Actively promote a positive culture of equality and diversity with all staff, patients, visitors and external bodies

CANDIDATE PROFILE









Academic/Vocational Qualifications



Registered Nurse - level 1 NMC Registered Teaching qualification or equivalent level of experience Non-Medical Prescribing

Experience in

Dermatology including providing dermatology treatment and aesthetics Managing a case load of patients and nurse-delivered clinics Working as part of a multi-professional team Undertaking audits and research Writing and implementing protocols and guidelines Working as a Non-Medical Prescriber Implementing and providing health promotion

Skills and Qualities



Comprehensive theoretical and clinical knowledge of Dermatological related health A commitment to work within an advanced role embracing 'freedom to act' within scope of practice Excellent written and verbal communication Ability to work efficiently under pressure, manage competing priorities and an unpredictable workload Ability to lead a clinical team in the absence of the Lead Nurse Ability to act as a resource (knowledge and expertise) at all levels within and externally to the organisation Ability to critically analyse research and apply the findings to the practice setting Ability to lead clinical audit and implement change Experience of clinic management and an understanding of pertinent human resource issues Commitment to practice development * Computer literate
