We are recruiting for our team at Hedgehogs Day Nursery in Rochester.
About the Role:
This is a varied and hands-on role, ideally suited to someone organised, proactive, and enthusiastic about working in a childcare environment. While the role involves supporting the nursery team as a whole, it is primarily focused on
kitchen responsibilities
and supporting the day-to-day operations of our nursery kitchen.
Key Responsibilities:
Preparing and serving healthy, nutritious lunches and snacks for the children in accordance with dietary requirements and portion guidelines.
Ensuring the kitchen is kept clean, tidy, and in line with Health and Safety, Food Hygiene and standards.
Carrying out daily cleaning and sanitisation routines, including washing up, wiping down surfaces, and managing waste appropriately.
Monitoring food stock and alerting management to reordering needs.
Supporting the nursery team with light duties as required, including assisting with mealtimes and transitions.
Maintaining clear records for food safety and kitchen checks.
Ensuring compliance with all nursery policies and procedures at all times.
What We're Looking For:
A genuine interest in working with young children.
Good organisational skills and the ability to multitask in a busy environment.
A team player with a positive, can-do attitude.
Awareness of or willingness to learn food hygiene and kitchen safety procedures (training can be provided).
Previous experience in a kitchen or childcare setting is desirable but not essential.
