At Beyond the Nest, we believe meal times are a key component of a child's development and happiness. We are looking to employ a head chef who will be integral to our mission: creating meals that support physical growth, cognitive development, and emotional well-being. The kitchen is the heart of our nursery, where care and creativity come together to make every meal a moment of joy and nourishment.

You will have the opportunity to join a beautiful new nursery, with state-of-the-art facilities, catering for up to 67 children, aged between 12 weeks to 5 Years.

We are seeking a passionate, motivated and experienced head cook, qualified to Level 3 Food Safety and Hygiene Certificate.

Your main responsibility will be to prepare and cook daily meals, manage the day to day running of our nursery kitchen, and to ensure that hygiene and cleanliness within the kitchen is of the highest standard in accordance with Environmental Health requirements and legislation. You will liaise with the nursery manager to create seasonal menus as well as taking responsibility for ordering produce as needed.

Key Responsibilities will include:



Take complete control running the kitchen operations. Prepare, cook, and present age-appropriate food for all the children with minimum wastage. Cook meals from scratch using fresh ingredients. Ensure that the allergen management system is in place and maintained at all times. Ensure that all food is checked for proper temperatures and that these are recorded for each meal. Work with management and devise nutritious seasonal menus. To work closely with management on the weekly orders and maintain the stock level. Maintain high standards of hygiene in food preparation, kitchen, and storage areas. Maintain kitchen records including opening-closing checks, temperature records and cleaning logs. Work in partnership with the nursery team and parents, to encourage a healthy and nutritious diet.

Requirements or Skills:



Passion for nutrition, and inspiring others in healthy eating. Experience of a nursery/school cook role. Ability to demonstrate a sound knowledge of managing different dietary requirements, particularly food allergies. Food Hygiene Certificate

Level 3

. Full Enhanced DBS check and 2 references.
