Job Description

We are looking for a part time nursery Chef/Cook for our children.

We are a scandinavian inspired Forest School and Day Nursery where health and wellbeing guides everything we do.

We are now looking to appoint a part time, qualified chef/cook to work alongside our other cook.

Your working days will be Monday, Thursday and Friday.

The Nursery Chef is responsible for planning, preparing, and serving nutritious meals and snacks to children in the nursery. The role involves ensuring that all food is prepared in a safe and hygienic manner and meets the dietary needs and preferences of the children, including those with special dietary requirements. The Nursery Chef will also be responsible for maintaining a clean and organised kitchen, adhering to all health and safety regulations.

Plan and prepare balanced and nutritious meals and snacks in accordance with dietary guidelines and the nursery's policies. Create menus that cater to various dietary requirements, including allergies, intolerances, and cultural preferences. Ensure portion control and proper food presentation suitable for young children. Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen. Follow food safety regulations and procedures, including proper storage, handling, and preparation of food. Conduct regular cleaning of kitchen equipment and surfaces. Monitor food temperatures during cooking and storage to ensure safety. Manage kitchen inventory, including ordering, receiving, and storing supplies. Ensure compliance with local health and safety regulations and nursery policies. Stay updated with best practices in child nutrition and food safety. Work closely with nursery staff to ensure meal times run smoothly. Communicate effectively with parents regarding their children's dietary needs and preferences. Participate in team meetings and training sessions as required. Relevant culinary qualification or equivalent experience. Food Safety and Hygiene certification. Proven experience as a chef or cook, preferably in a childcare or educational setting. Experience in menu planning and catering for special dietary requirements. Strong knowledge of nutrition and healthy eating principles for young children. Excellent cooking and food preparation skills. Ability to work independently and manage time effectively. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Attention to detail and commitment to high standards of cleanliness and hygiene. Stamina to work in a fast-paced environment
Job Type: Part-time

Pay: 13.00 per hour

Expected hours: 24 per week
