To maintain a clean, safe and hygienic environment throughout the nursery by carrying out daily cleaning duties after opening hours. The cleaner will help ensure all areas meet required health and safety standards for young children, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
Clean and sanitise all nursery rooms, including play areas, sleep rooms, corridors, and staff areas.
Clean and disinfect toilets, nappy-changing areas, sinks, and bathroom surfaces.
Sweep, mop, and vacuum all floor surfaces.
Wipe down tables, chairs, door handles, and frequently touched surfaces.
Empty bins and dispose of waste safely following nursery procedures.
Clean kitchen/food prep areas (surface cleaning only, unless otherwise instructed).
Restock cleaning supplies where needed.
Ensure cleaning equipment is maintained in good working order and stored safely.
Follow all health, safety, and safeguarding procedures.
Report any damage, maintenance issues, or safety concerns to the Nursery Manager.
Requirements
Previous cleaning experience preferred, ideally in a childcare, school, or similar environment (not essential).
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Good attention to detail and commitment to high hygiene standards.
Reliability, punctuality, and confidentiality.
Understanding of health and safety procedures (training can be provided).
Ability to follow nursery policies including safeguarding and infection control.
Additional Information
Work must be completed outside of nursery opening hours.
Full training and induction provided.
Enhanced DBS check will be required in line with safeguarding regulations and references will be obtained from previous employers.
