Currently no staff, however will be responsible for one Assistant as the business grows.
Salary -
Between 12.21 and 13 per hour
Hours of work -
Monday to Friday - 2 to 4 hours per day, 10 to 20 hours per week. Hours can be taken early morning or evening (6am till 8am or
5pm till 7pm). Hours may increase as the business grows, and job share available.
Length of probationary period -

Job summary -
A Nursery Cleaner/Housekeeper to join the White Stork Nursery team and contribute to creating a hygienic and healthy environment for the little ones in our care. The primary responsibilities will be to create, organise and prepare a hygienic nursery space for children and staff. Ensuring that all the environment and equipment is safely cleaned for children from birth.
Main duties and responsibilities -
? To ensure the high quality cleanliness of the nursery and maintain the highest consistent standards.
? Prepare a cleaning routine that ensures all spaces receive high- quality cleaning and products.
? Maintain a clean and organised stock cupboard, adhering to strict hygiene and safety standards to ensure the health and wellbeing of the children and staff.
? Collaborate and ensure teamwork with staff and management to ensure all nursery spaces receive attention to detail and are appealing to children and parents. Liaise with management on best practices and smooth cleaning procedures.
? Monitor and manage inventory, ensuring the availability of high quality cleaning equipment and supplies, including hygiene products for children and staff. Whilst minimising waste and maintaining cost efficiency.
? To use initiative to perform cleaning duties and tidying tasks that require attention, to ensure overall high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
? Stay informed about current Health & Safety and industry trends relating to children's hygiene, quality and general procedure compliance and apply this knowledge to continually enhance the cleanliness and hygiene methods. To be aware of Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH). Ensure risk assessments are completed and followed as required.
? To ensure safe storage of cleaning products. Reporting equipment faults and damaged items to the management team.
? Ensuring that all doors are closed and secure, all lights are turned off and the nursery is safe with all hazards removed, before leaving the premises.
? Specific duties to include, but not limited to, cleaning of all floors including mopping, sweeping and vacuum cleaning. Cleaning and disinfecting of all toilets including sinks and floors. Empty all waste bins and dispose of waste correctly (general waste and food waste), and replace correct bin liners. Dusting of all furniture and shelves (being aware of special requirements for nursery furniture). To clean, dust and disinfect sinks, basins, countertops, mirrors, windows and doors. Additional hygienic cleaning of door handles, handrails, chairs and tables.
? Foster a warm and friendly atmosphere in the nursery, interacting with children, staff, and parents, and promoting positive hygiene and cleanliness.
? To adhere to all White Stork Nursery policies and procedures.
? To participate in staff meetings, training and self-development activities including supervisions.
Requirements -
? Proven experience as a cleaner/housekeeper, preferably in a childcare or similar environment.
? Cleaning or Health & Safety qualification or similar knowledge and training.
? In-depth knowledge of cleaning procedures, COSHH requirements, and hygiene safety regulations. Some knowledge of Health & Safety Regulations, as they relate to the operation of cleaning equipment and the dilution of cleaning products.
? Creativity and ability to create a cleaning rota that maximises high quality cleanliness, hygiene and safety.
? Strong organisational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks effectively.
? Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with children, parents and staff.
? A friendly and patient demeanour with a genuine love for working with children.
? A high level of cleanliness, attention to detail, and adherence to hygiene and safety standards.
? Flexibility to adapt to changing needs and schedules in a dynamic childcare setting.
