We are seeking a dedicated and skilled individual to join our team in the role of Nursery Cook in our friendly, family run day nursery. This position involves working within a three person kitchen team, where everyone shares equal responsibility. You will be responsible for the daily organisation of the kitchen and preparation of the day's menu in an efficient and time critical manner.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for cooking and baking food, excellent organisational skills, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of food safety and hygiene, including ensuring individual special dietary requirements are adhered to.

Duties
Assist with food preparation, including chopping, slicing, and assembling ingredients
Assist with baking various things, such as loaves, biscuits and buns.
Cook various dishes according to established recipes and standards
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area at all times
Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and hygiene standards
Prepare meals efficiently during busy service periods on a monthly rotating menu.
Support the team with general kitchen duties as required, including stock rotation, preparing a weekly shopping list, and equipment cleaning.
Ensure good communication and liaison with managers and owners.
Liaison with any professional bodies- Environmental Health, Social Services etc.
Qualifications
Previous experience in food preparation, cooking & baking is desirable but not essential; training will be provided for the right candidate
Knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices
Experience working in a restaurant or catering environment is advantageous
Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask effectively during busy periods
Good communication skills and a positive attitude towards teamwork
Passion for culinary arts and eagerness to learn new skills
Days & Hours of work
Thursday & Friday, 8am -1pm each week
Every other Monday 8am-1pm
Flexible throughout the year to cover the other kitchen staffs holiday periods eg working Mon, Tues & Wed as well.
