Job Opportunity: Nursery Cook - Wendy's Nursery

Hours:

20-25 hours per week

Working Pattern:

Monday-Friday, all year round (excluding bank holidays and 1-week Christmas closure)

Start Date:

Monday 16th February 2026

Hourly Rate:

12.21 per hour (rising in April). Higher rate negotiable depending on experience and successful completion of probation.

About Us

Wendy's Nursery is seeking a reliable, enthusiastic and experienced Nursery Cook to join our friendly team. We provide nutritious, balanced meals for children aged 0-5 and are looking for someone who can uphold high standards in line with statutory guidance and our own commitment to excellent care.

Working Hours

You will work between

20-25 hours per week

, flexible hours between 8.30am-1.30pm.
(Exact timings can be agreed to suit the right candidate.)

This is an all-year-round position.

Our Christmas closure is fully paid, as staff contribute to our annual events (held 3 times per year) which cover the full-day closures, excluding bank holidays. Lots of well-being support and a staff room with a tuck shop.

Role Responsibilities

As our Nursery Cook, your duties will include:

Preparing and cooking healthy meals and snacks for children. Following our rotating menus (updated twice per year). Maintaining a clean, hygienic and well-organised kitchen at all times. Adhering to Safer Food, Better Businessguidance and all statutory food safety requirements. Completing daily and weekly record keeping, including temperature records and cleaning logs. Ordering online food shopping and managing stock rotation. Providing support in the nursery rooms when needed.

Training & Requirements

Before your start date, you must complete the following training (online):

Food Handling Food Safety Allergy Awareness Kitchen Cleanliness & Hygiene

Essential Requirements:

A clean and clear DBS (or willingness to obtain one). Ability to follow dietary requirements, allergy guidance and food safety legislation. Good organisational skills and a positive, proactive attitude.
