Berry Grove Childcare in Spalding is seeking an individual with a love for cooking and a dedication to preparing healthy, balanced meals in a warm, supportive, and caring environment.
This position plays a vital role in the team, ensuring that children in our care receive nutritious meals. With a maximum of 60 children served daily, flexibility and organization are key. As part of this important position, you will be in charge of cooking for all children at our facility, providing meals for breakfast, lunch, tea, and snacks, while accommodating various allergies.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and cook well-balanced meals suitable for children under five as per the nursery's nutritional guidelines.
Prevent food cross-contamination in the kitchen area.
Ensure timely preparation and correct serving of all meals.
Follow a weekly menu, including provided recipe cards.
Adhere to SFBB standards and maintain a clean, organized kitchen.
Wash up and clean up after meal times.
Communicate with nursery staff regarding children's dietary needs and allergies.
Create special meals for events like Halloween tea and Christmas lunch.
Maintain a safe, clean, and healthy kitchen environment with periodic deep cleaning.
Contribute to menu planning to offer children a diverse, nutritious diet.
Follow all Nursery policies and procedures, health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Compile a weekly shopping list for ingredients needed for upcoming meals.
Receive the weekly shopping delivery and store it appropriately.
Requirements and Skills:
Show enthusiasm for creating fresh, well-balanced, and healthy meals.
Preferably possess a level 3 food & hygiene certification, with a minimum of level 2 preferred.
Previous experience in a similar role is advantageous.
Organized individuals who thrive in independent work and take satisfaction in delivering high-quality meals.
Understanding and knowledge of allergies and intolerances.
