Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team as a Nursery Cook. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in food preparation and cooking, with a commitment to maintaining food safety standards.

The role of the Cook is to provide nutritionally balanced, freshly prepared meals for the children in our care and to be totally responsible for the safe and hygienic management of the nursery kitchen.

The main qualities of a good Cook are a natural warm personality and flexibility together with an understanding of the nutritional needs of children.

Duties

Prepare and cook a variety of dishes according to established recipes and menu specifications. Do meal preparation, including chopping, slicing, and assembling ingredients. Ensure all food safety and hygiene standards are adhered to at all times. Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, including equipment and utensils. Collaborate with team members to ensure timely service during busy periods. Participate in inventory management by monitoring stock levels and ordering what is needed. Plan a well balanced, healthy and fresh menu seasonally.

Experience

Food Hygiene Level 2 is needed. Previous kitchen experience is essential, with a background in food preparation and cooking. Culinary experience in a nursery or restaurant setting is required. Knowledge of the "safer food, better business" standards and can adhere to them. A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and ability to work effectively within a team are crucial for success in this role.
