Nursery Cook

to join our team at our Treforest Day Nursery. We are looking for a warm, reliable, and passionate individual to prepare nutritious meals for our children. This role is for

22.5 hours per week

, with ideal hours being

Monday to Friday, 9:00am-1:30pm

.

full-time role may be considered.

This is a key role within the nursery -- helping to provide the healthy, balanced meals that support our children's growth, learning, and development.

Main Duties

Prepare and cook healthy, balanced meals and snacks from scratch, following our 3-week rotating menu. Ensure food quality, variety, and presentation meet company standards. Assist with menu planning and development, taking into account dietary needs and allergies. Collaborate with nursery staff to ensure smooth operations and mealtime routines. Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area at all times. Adhere strictly to all food safety, hygiene, and sanitation guidelines. Monitor inventory levels and communicate supply needs to management. Take responsibility for preparing for and meeting the standards required during

environmental health visits and inspections

, ensuring the nursery consistently achieves high ratings. Any other duties appropriate to the post as directed by the Nursery Manager and Senior Management Team.

Housekeeping Duties

As part of this role, you will also support the wider nursery team by assisting with light housekeeping tasks to ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for children, families, and staff. These may include:

Supporting with laundry (e.g., washing/drying tea towels, aprons, or nursery linen as needed). Maintaining cleanliness in shared areas such as the staff kitchen or dining spaces. Assisting with tidying and sanitising children's eating areas before and after meal/snack times. Helping to manage waste disposal safely and efficiently. Carrying out any reasonable housekeeping tasks to support the smooth day-to-day running of the nursery.
