Job Description

Applicant must have level 2 and preferably level 3 food hygiene.

Applicant must have knowledge of food allergies

Applicant must have some experience in running a kitchen and cooking for larger numbers.

Experience of cooking for children is desirable.

Main responsibilities:

To prepare, cook and present age appropriate food to a high quality in a clean, tidy, safe and pleasant environment. To ensure responsibility for the effective daily management of the nursery kitchen. To keep accurate records of supplies and order replacements as needed within the nursery budget requirements. To follow health and safety guidelines and food safety guidelines.
Main activities:

Keep the kitchen a clean and safe environment at all times. To prepare and cook enough age appropriate food for all children with minimum waste. To maintain a high standard of cleanliness and food hygiene. To ensure that the legal requirements for fire safety, health and hygiene are met at all times and necessary paperwork is completed. Take responsibility for all dietary requirements and clearly communicating these to staff. Support, promote and implement policies as appropriate in your job role. Encourage a healthy and nutritious diet. Ensure you have a working knowledge of health and safety, COSHH & risk assessments. Work with suppliers and ensure that the products and supplies are appropriate for a nursery environment. To be responsible for any inspections relating to the kitchen such as environmental health. Check the kitchen daily and remove or report any hazards or potential hazards. To undertake any other reasonable duties as directed, in accordance with the nursery's aims and objectives.
