Role Overview

As Nursery Chef, you will be responsible for planning and preparing nutritious meals and snacks for up to 40 children, catering for a range of dietary needs and allergies. You will manage the nursery kitchen, ensuring the highest standards of hygiene, safety, and food quality at all times.

Key Responsibilities

Plan, prepare, and cook healthy and balanced meals for children in line with nutritional guidelines. Cater for special dietary requirements, allergies, and cultural preferences. Ensure the safe storage, preparation, and handling of all food. Maintain a clean, hygienic, and organised kitchen environment at all times. Monitor stock levels, order supplies, and manage kitchen budgets effectively. Comply with all food hygiene, health & safety, and safeguarding regulations. Work closely with nursery staff to plan menus that support children's growth and development. Keep accurate records of meals, stock, and food safety checks.

Requirements

Experience as a chef/cook, ideally in a childcare, school, or care setting. Knowledge of child nutrition and healthy meal planning. Food Hygiene Level 2 qualification (or willingness to obtain). Strong understanding of food safety, allergens, and dietary requirements. Ability to manage time effectively and work independently. Passion for providing nutritious meals to children. Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain).
