Job Description

A typical day as a housekeeper at Little Ripley.

10am-

I Arrive at work and start the preparation ready for snack time. I chop all the fruit up and get the bowls out ready for the staff to come and collect it for the room.

Once snack is finished, I collect all the bowls up and load them into the dishwasher, I then carry on with my cleaning duties for the day.

10:15am-

I empty and load up the washing machine before checking around the nursery.

10:20-11:20am-

I go around the nursery wiping all the glass on the doors and skirting boards. I will sweep and mop the corridor whilst the children are busy having fun in the rooms. If children are in the garden go into the room and pull out all the furniture for a deep clean, sweeping and mopping all the room whilst the children are outside. I go into the toilets and ensure they are all clean, spraying them all down with antibacterial spray and sweeping and mopping them out ready for the children to come in and wash their hands.

11:20am-

I go back into the kitchen and help the cook dish out the dinner and listen to any dietaries for in the rooms.

11:30am-

I take the dinner trolley into the rooms and make sure all the staff know the correct dietary requirements on the trolley. I will stay in the rooms if the staff need any help.

During dinner time I go back into the kitchen and help the cook begin to wash up before going back out to the rooms and collecting all the dirty dishes. I then help prepare pudding to take back around the rooms.

12pm-

Once all the dinner time dishes are collected, I help the cook get organised and then go back around to collect any dirty washing e.g. flannels and bibs, I then load up the washing machine. I go into the rooms and help clean up from dinner time if the staff need any help.

12:30pm-1:30pm-

I clean all the staff toilets and wipe down all the door handles and glass from the dinner time mess. I sweep the reception area and dust around where is needed. I then go back into the kitchen and swap over the washing in the machines.

1:30pm-

I have a quick break before getting my sprits on again.

2pm-2:45pm-

I go into the staff room and clean out all the fridge and microwave from the staff lunches. I empty any bins that need emptying and continue to potter around the nursery cleaning what has been missed. When children have gone out into the garden I go back into the garden and deep clean the room I hadn't cleaned in the morning.

2:45pm-4pm-

I prepare the afternoon tea and put it all out ready for the staff to collect or I take it into the rooms to help the staff. Once tea is out, I clean around in the kitchen wiping down all the sides. I go into the rooms and collect any dirty washing then either hand wash it all or load it into the dish washer, I then put all the plates away once they are cleaned and will empty the kitchen bins. I ensure the kitchen is sparkling and all the washing is done before I leave for the day.

On a day that the shopping is delivered from Asda and MKG I will help put all the shopping away, I also help unpack the Gompels and Amazon orders.
