Overview



The Nursery Manager is responsible for the effective daily management of the nursery, ensuring high-quality early years education and care in line with statutory requirements and organisational standards. This role involves leading and inspiring a team, maintaining a safe and nurturing environment, and building strong partnerships with children, families, staff, and external agencies.

Leadership & Management



Provide strong, positive leadership to the nursery team, modelling best practice in early years education. Manage staffing levels, including recruitment, training, performance management, and rota planning. Foster a supportive, collaborative culture where staff feel valued and motivated. Ensure the nursery meets all Ofsted and EYFS requirements, maintaining consistently high standards.

Childcare & Curriculum



Oversee the planning, delivery, and evaluation of a broad, stimulating Early Years curriculum. Monitor children's progress, ensuring individual needs are identified and effectively supported. Promote inclusive practice and ensure children's wellbeing, safety, and development remain central to all decisions. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, observations, and assessments for each child.

Health, Safety & Compliance



Ensure the nursery environment is safe, secure, clean, and well-maintained at all times. Implement and monitor policies relating to safeguarding, health & safety, hygiene, and data protection. Conduct regular risk assessments and ensure all statutory documentation is completed. Respond appropriately to accidents, incidents, and concerns, following required procedures.

Financial & Administrative Management



Manage the nursery budget, ensuring financial sustainability and efficient resource allocation. Support fee collection processes, occupancy planning, and marketing to maintain enrolment levels. Oversee procurement of equipment, materials, and resources within budget guidelines. Ensure compliance with organisational policies, local authority requirements, and inspection frameworks.

Family & Community Engagement



Build strong, positive relationships with parents and carers, ensuring open and effective communication. Lead parent meetings, support transitions, and respond to queries or concerns professionally. Engage with local services, professionals, and agencies to support children's development and family needs. Promote the nursery within the community and encourage partnership working.

Person Specification



Essential



Level 3 or above in Early Years/Childcare (Level 5 or 6 or Early Years Teacher Status desirable). Strong knowledge of the EYFS, safeguarding, and regulatory requirements. Proven experience in a senior role within an early years setting. Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills. Ability to build positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues.

Desirable



First Aid, DSL, or additional early years specialist training. Experience managing budgets and nursery administration systems.
Working hours between 7am -6pm, 4 days per week at our 51 week nursery.
