Job Summary


The Nursery Nurse Level 3 plays a vital role in providing high-quality care and developmental support to infants and young children within a nursery or childcare setting. This position involves implementing tailored care plans, ensuring safety, and fostering a nurturing environment that promotes physical, emotional, and cognitive growth. The Nursery Nurse Level 3 collaborates closely with families, healthcare professionals, and team members to deliver comprehensive care aligned with regulatory standards and best practices. Candidates should possess extensive experience in pediatric care, including familiarity with EMR systems such as Epic and Cerner, and have expertise in managing children with developmental disabilities, memory care needs, or acute health conditions. Knowledge of medical procedures such as IV infusion, suturing, catheter care, and infection control is highly desirable. The role demands a compassionate approach combined with clinical proficiency to support the holistic well-being of each child.

Responsibilities



Deliver personalized care plans that address the physical, emotional, and developmental needs of children in the nursery setting. Monitor vital signs and conduct routine health assessments using appropriate medical terminology and physiology knowledge. Administer medications and injections following aseptic techniques while maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations. Assist with feeding routines including tube feeding and nutritional support tailored to individual requirements. Perform basic medical procedures such as venipuncture, IV insertion, catheter care, and specimen collection/processing as needed. Maintain accurate medical records using EMR/EHR systems like Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks for documentation of patient assessments, medication administration, and treatment plans. Ensure infection control protocols are strictly followed to prevent infectious disease transmission within the nursery environment. Support children with special needs including those requiring hospice & palliative medicine, dementia or Alzheimer's care, or behavioral health interventions. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on discharge planning, case management, and post-acute or sub-acute care strategies. Educate families on health coaching topics such as nutrition, medication management, and home & community care practices. Maintain sterile processing standards for medical supplies and equipment used in pediatric care procedures.

Experience



Proven experience working in pediatric healthcare settings such as neonatal units (NICU), PICU, ICU, or hospital medicine environments. Extensive background in acute care including trauma medicine at Level I or Level II trauma centers is preferred. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, or similar platforms for comprehensive medical documentation. Hands-on experience administering injections, performing phlebotomy/venipuncture, managing ventilators or oxygen therapy devices. Knowledge of ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding for procedures performed in outpatient or ambulatory surgery centers. Experience working with children across various age groups including toddlers and neonates; neonatal ventilator management is advantageous. Background in managing complex cases involving infectious disease care, pain management strategies including acute pain management protocols, or working within hospice & palliative medicine frameworks. Demonstrated ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams in teaching hospitals or outpatient clinics specializing in geriatrics or family planning is a plus.
